Welcome to The Spot, a weekly NYC e-zine published by Funk This Entertainment, Manhattan's premier event planning company.

Let's begin with another shameless plug for our 2nd Annual Loft Party which is only 2 days away! We're ready to take over Drive In Studios and want to thank our sponsors RedBull, Mumm Champagne, Fiji and Crunch Fitness for their support.

Poor tippers scored a victory this week in court. After being arrested for leaving less than the required 18% gratuity, Humberto Taveras' case was dropped later when the judge attested that tips are still discretionary. Taveras' excuse? Poopy food.

Howard Stern certainly wasn't kidding when he announced a few of his shows would be available for download/rental through MovieLink. Among the greatest hits are "Erica The Gymnast," "The First Annual Small Penis Contest," and "P.E.T.A. Girls."

Music: How annoying is the musical masterpiece "Goodies" by Ciara? OKAY, Usher's "Yeah" was dope, and we all know producer Lil' Jon changed the beat just a little for Petey Pablo's "Freek-a-leek," but "Goodies"? Has anyone realized that the song has no actual key? Thank you America for making it a #1 single...and yes, keep the goodies in the jar!

Parties: Our good friend DJ DLJ, the man behind the "I Love the 80s" affairs, is putting together his first "I Love the 90s" bash at Dewey's Flatiron next Saturday, September 25th.

Tech: By far the coolest gadget we've seen in years, the Japanese-born Ka-on, or "flower sound," turns flowers into audio speakers by sending sound vibrations through their water tubes.

One Lucky Bastard:
The man who survived after being run over by a train was also intoxicated at the time. Talk about luck...and not a single scratch.

Thievery: Is someone sneaking into your laundry room? Here's one sure way to tell.

Anniversary: 2 Years since Nick Nolte's infamous arrest.

Sports Illustrated got their hands on the Kobe files.

Read up on their findings...
