Welcome to The Spot,
a weekly NYC e-zine published by Funk
This Entertainment, Manhattan's premier event planning company.
Since mid-summer, we've been telling you about several big projects over
which we've been losing a significant amount of sleep. We can't be happier
to announce the birth of our second baby, version 2.0 of the Funk This

The
Good Stuff
Local
News: I happened to be strolling along 8th Avenue and
was only a hundred feet away from the exploding
manhole covers that almost caused a stampede around Port Authority
on Tuesday. One woman ran down the street shouting "That building...it
just collapsed!" and fire trucks and police cars soon followed. We
all saw smoke...you can imagine the first thing that came to our minds.
Happenings: On Saturday,
DLJ presents the sequel to his "I Love the 80s" parties, "I
Love the 90s" at Dewey's Flatiron. Admission is only $5 if you
mention The Spot, and everyone gets to enjoy 2 for 1 Drink Special from
9 to 11 PM.
For the next 2 weeks, you can also check the 2-hour Superheroes! presentation
at the Museum of Television and Radio. We remember "The Tick."
Next week, SushiSamba will embark upon a 5-day
Sakebration! of sake. Get in on the do-it-yourself sushi sessions!
Finally, the folks at Shecky's will be treating us to a week-long
happy hour event at 100 participating bars and lounges: Toast to New
York.
Movies: The new "King
Kong" isn't hitting theaters until next December. Stay updated via
KongIsKing.net...
Idiot of the Week: A Malaysian man shot his wife to death
with a shotgun, mistaking her for a monkey???
Music: Are you wondering
what the hell our favorite rappers are saying half of the time? Let the
truth be told, thanks to Music-Critic's
Breakdown. Personal favorite: Lil Kim's "Magic Stick"
Tech: A German telecommunications
company is working on a special chip for your cell phone that will let
you know if you need a mint.
