Welcome to The Spot,
a weekly NYC e-zine published by Funk
This Entertainment, Manhattan's premier event planning company.
We are only a month away from November's election and thought it would
be appropriate to start this week's edition of The Spot by pointing you
to a few political websites that have recently caught our attention.
The
Living Room Candidate
This site from The American Museum of the Moving Image has visual
archives of every presidential campaign of the past 50 years. While
your initial visit may be swift, the page sure deserves a
bookmark. |

Votergasm
This is by far the most original concept of this election year.
According to Votergasm, it "seeks to send 100,000 first-time
18-to-25-year-old voters to polls for the 2004 elections, and to
catalyze 250,000 orgasms by the morning of November 3."
You can pledge to be a Citizen, Patriot or American Hero. Also note

The
Good Stuff
Local
News: Six Flags Great Adventure will introduce its new
creation, the world's tallest and fastest rollercoaster Kingda Ka, this
spring. The ride accelerates to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and rises 456 feet
off the ground.
Money: The new Forbes
400 List of Richest Americans was released late last week. There are
45 new members of the club this year, and I'm not one of them. Google's
co-founder Sergey Brin, a fellow former citizen of the USSR, is new to
the F400; he is also one
sexy bitch. Enjoy!
Bored at Home or Work: How
about an online petting zoo to spice up your day? The animals are friendly
and while this doesn't exactly beat the now legendary Penguin Game, it
sure is a great way to kill time. And just as a precaution, make sure
the boss isn't around.
Happenings: Get a taste
of Chinatown this Saturday for only $1/plate. After pigging out, head
over to Central Park for Self Magazine's Workout
In The Park 2004. Celebrate Oktoberfest at Loreley's 1-Year
Anniversary Party.
TV: We were happy to learn
that NBC will retire Jay Leno's number in 2009. His highly-coveted slot
will be taken by Mr. Comedy himself, Conan O'Brien. Staying up late for
Conan? No more! And bring back Andy Richter...
Dating: "You sound
sexy," But what should we really expect?
Music: If you haven't heard
of Swedish DJ/producer Eric Prydz, you will soon enough. His new track
"Call
On Me" is built around a live sample (Steve re-recorded it just
for Eric) of Steve Winwood's "Valerie," and is currently rocking
dancefloors around the world.
Idiot(s) Of The Week: Father
and Son, frequent arguments are almost given. They fight over sports,
Son's future, Mother...and preparing chicken, except all of a sudden guns
are involved, and Son ends up with a bullet in his ear. Just a reminder
that all is well in Bluewell,
West Virginia.
Tech: Have you seen the
highly addictive Audi commercial for the new A3 Sportback? This one is
truly a breakthrough in customer interaction. Find out for yourself: turn
on the sound and pay close attention.
