Welcome to The Spot, a weekly
NYC e-zine published by Funk
This Entertainment, Manhattan's premier event planning company.
Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you've probably heard and ridiculed
Di-k Cheney's (yes, we have
to include that - or else this e-mail doesn't get to you) factcheck.org
and factcheck.com blunder.
Jon Stewart suggested that our Vice President might have actually been
referring to his favorite site, fatchicks.com (please don't go there!),
but we can't rule out the possibility of our pick, FatCheck.com.

The
Good Stuff
Local
News: The paupers as Starbucks decided to raise their
prices, some say to justify their foray into the liquor sector with Jim
Beam. Kudos, we will soon be able to enjoy a $15 Starbucks cocktail.
Happenings: The 42nd
New York Film Festival has impressed many this year in its opening
week. The festival wraps up on October 17th. Fans of comedy can also catch
the New
York Underground Comedy Festival until Sunday.
Thousands of feline owners and their pets will congregate this Saturday
and Sunday at MSG's Expo Center for Cat Show New York.
On Monday, New Yorkers will flock to the Columbus
Day Festival on Broadway, complete with 500+ street vendors.
TV: Verdict: "My
Big Fat Obnoxious Boss" : Not Fat!
The recent tie-in of Crest Toothpaste into an episode of "The Apprentice"
has apparently done
wonders for the company.
Dating: Women are very much
like men these days, says
New York Magazine writer Amy Sohn: committmentphobic.
Music: We always thought
it would be extremely challenging to screw up a classic like Bobby Brown's
"My Prerogative," but Britney hit a new low with her cover.
Kevin, please, you can take voice lessons together.
Remember Mattel sued the Swedish group Aqua over "Barbie Girl"?
Well now that the suit is settled, Barbie has decided to drop a hot album
of her own.
Idiot Of The Week (Obviously):
Cheney you might be a powerful and intelligent individual, but you should
really be more aware of Internet domains.
Tech: Nick Denton's Gawker
Media launched
3 new blogs on Monday to complement Gawker, Defamer and the other
sites in Denton's blogging empire. AOL has also re-introduced
itself with a new logo, a mere counterclockwise 45-degree shift, if
you ask us.
